Where are they now? Sharing participant success

Exponential Education has worked with numerous youth in Ghana over the years. Focusing on empowering young people to see themselves as leaders and be able to make meaningful changes in their lives and their community.

But what happens to them at the end of the program? Where do they go and what do they do?

We wanted to share some stories from former participants in Exponential Education programs (Peer-to-Peer, Girls LEAP, BPC) and what they've been up to since completing their programs.

Note: these stories were shared as part of an Exponential Education fundraising campaign. If any of these stories inspired you, think about supporting our programs by donating!

From Mardiya:

"I am Mardiya Abdul Rauf, a former PA (Program Associate) of Exponential Education. I am currently in Benin after completing my studies at King Saud University in Saudi Arabia, and am now a teacher.

Being with Expo has had many impacts on me, both as an individual and now as a teacher. Being a PA was like teaching, and I gained a lot of experience running programs with Expo.

I can't forget about the courage, too! When I was just a participant in Girls LEAP, it was hard for me to raise my hand to answer questions in class. But after joining the program and learning about safe spaces, I felt more confident sharing my thoughts and ideas with others. I also learned ways and approaches for how we can solve our problems together, and the experience helped to boost my confidence."

From Emmanuel:

"I am proud to say that I was part of the first-ever P2P (Peer to Peer) program as a tutor at Abenase in 2012. I went on to become an intern at Exponential Education after completing SHS.

My time with Expo, both as a tutor and as an intern, has had a significant impact on my life. Trying to be my best self at all times to serve as a good role model to my tutees, training and guiding potential tutors, and organizing, preparing, and supervising programs improved my confidence in taking charge. Also, working with people from different backgrounds improved my social and interpersonal skills. I am currently in the UK, doing my master's at the University of Exeter (MRes. Advanced Biological Science)

I hope Exponential Education continues to grow and impact more lives.💜💜💜💜💜."

From Samiratu:

"My story with Expo began when I joined the Girls LEAP program, a journey that changed my life. As President and later a Program Associate, I learned the true meaning of resilience, hope, and never giving up. Girls LEAP taught me to dream boldly, to lead with heart, and to believe that my voice mattered. That experience sparked my passion for social entrepreneurship and inspired me to start my own NGO in college. Today, I’m still guided by those same lessons; empowering young people, especially girls, to rise, dream, and create change in their own way."

From Amoah Benita:

"Once an organizer in Girls LEAP way back in Asanteman SHA. Together with other colleagues, we joined Exponential Education in the year 2017 during our final year on campus🥰. There, I learned a lot about self-awareness and self-love. We went on excursions and had so much fun.

Then, after school, I was selected for an interview with Miss Grace and Miss Yasme, which gave me the opportunity to join the organization as a PA. During my tenure of office as a PA, I gracefully passed on the knowledge I acquired from our predecessors to our girls, which helped build their self-confidence and made them knowledgeable. Our lessons impacted so many lives and improved individuals' self-love. I don’t regret this decision and experience at all. This training is visible on my resume because it has highlighted my potential, skills, and capabilities. I will forever be grateful to Exponential Education for this great experience and life-changing moment.

I am now a colleague of the most noble profession, serving as a midwife to my country, Ghana."

These are just some of the lives impacted by the work at Exponential Education, and we are excited to see where other participants go. Keep up the great work!
