Ghana Codes: Code Club Triumphs in 2023

What a remarkable journey it has been for the Exponential Education Code Club in Antoa local community throughout the dynamic year of 2023! Navigating the challenges posed by the global economic climate, our resilient team in Ghana's Ashanti Region persevered, ensuring the uninterrupted flow of creativity and learning within our Code Club.

Diving into the heart of our program, we proudly unveil the three engaging levels that make up the core of our educational adventure. Starting at the foundational level, participants are introduced to the essentials of typing, word documents, and spreadsheets, with a splash of creativity through Paint. The journey continues into Scratch programming, providing our learners with a gentle yet impactful initiation into coding. The culmination of this phase sees motivated participants venturing into front-end programming, exploring HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create their simple websites.

In our review of the past year, we celebrate the success of 4 participants who embraced front-end programming and showcased their newfound skills by creating websites for their respective schools. Witnessing the transformative impact of our program, one participant stands out, now choosing Elective ICT as a Senior High School course. As we reflect on their achievements, we're thrilled to announce that 8 Upper Primary students mastered typing, Word Document, and Paint, while another 8 Junior High School students completed typing lessons along with Word Document and Spreadsheet projects. Meanwhile, 12 Junior High School students eagerly delved into Scratch programming, anticipating the upcoming Exponential Education Hackathon in the first quarter 2024. Our community of learners has grown to 28 participants, each contributing their unique enthusiasm and dedication.

Beyond the lines of code, we proudly adorned 20 deserving participants with exclusive Exponential Education Code Club T-shirts. These branded shirts, designed as a symbol of commitment, have fostered a sense of unity and proven to be a catalyst for increased attendance. As we bid farewell to 2023, we are charged with anticipation for the vibrant year that lies ahead in 2024. Here's to another year of innovation, learning, and the limitless possibilities that coding can unlock!
